Hey everyone,
My name is Brad, and I just graduated from SDSU with a degree in Liberal Studies. I grew up in Culver City where i attended Farragut Elementary, and Culver City Middle, and High School. After high school, I went to the local community college before transferring to SDSU to receive my bachelors degree. I am happy to say, that in the fall I will be attending CSUSM to obtain my multiple subject teaching credential.
Since technology has become so important in society, especially as a student, I find it almost impossible to feel like I am not at the very least proficient in the use of most modern day technology. I feel that technology when used correctly can be a great tool for both educators and students alike. I myself have taken and enjoyed the benefits of an online class. However, it is very important that the importance of hands on, personal teaching is not lost in the technological shuffle.
After reading the CSUSM/COE mission statement, the part that speaks most to me is the concept of promoting educational equity. This means that every student will be given the equal chance to learn regardless of what it may take. It is a teachers responsibility to insure that every children's educational needs are accounted for. This helps to provide educational equity. With this the teachers are giving their students the best chance to succeed.
Greetings Brad, I enjoyed reading your intro letter and loved your paragraph on technology. I can't help but fully agree, well said. I have no idea where Culver City is but congrats on starting your credential in the fall at CSUSM. I also want a multiple-subject teaching credential.
ReplyDeleteHey Brad, I really like your outlook on technology. Like you I have enjoyed the benefits of taking an online class as well. However, I think taking an online class has it's positives and negatives too. On one end you don't have to attend class but on the other end it does not allow for that one on one attention like you mentioned. Also, I really feel that CSUSM lives up to their reputation of equity. So, I think you made a great choice in deciding to attend their credential program.
